Avington
is a Georgian manor house and was once
owned in the mid 19th century by Sir John Shelley, brother of
the poet. The estate was sold to Lt. Col and Mrs Hickson in 1953,
and is now in trust with their family.
Avington Park was one of the houses shown on Meridian TV in
Great Country Houses, it also starred as Quentcham Hall in the
BBC television drama Daniel Deronda and was featured in the X-Factor
in 2006. |

and serves refreshments, homemade cake and locally made ice cream
during house open times. |

ground floor of the house and the grounds are all fairly level.
Where there is a step, we can provide
a ramp. The first floor is not accessible as we have no lift. |
