A hillside
garden set alongside an Elizabethan manor
house. The garden was the
creation of Sir John and Lady Vivien Nicholson, who lived
at Mottistone from 1947.
The house is
normally open on one day only, Bank Holiday Monday, at the end of
May. There are also good walks across the adjoining Mottistone Estate. |

Nearby is the picturesque village of Brighstone. The village
has a 12th century church, a NT shop & museum with
an exhibition of village life in the 19th century. The village is
an excellent base for walks, either on the downs above or the
beaches below. |

from car park to entrance. Disabled visitors may be dropped off
at the pedestrian entrance before parking. The grounds are partly
accessible, loose gravel paths, steep slopes, some steps. Some
