| The Red House Museum
is a museum well worth a visit, housed in Georgian building (built
as a workhouse in 1764) and filled with a rich variety
of displays and objects which reflect the
social and natural history. Some of the findings from Hengistbury Head can be seen here.

This very rare fire engine was installed in Christchurch Barracks in 1795. It was designed by the famous engineer Joseph Bramah (1748-1814) best known as the designer of a type of high-security lock. |
