Scaplen's Court
is a mediaeval domestic building that
has undergone many changes over the centuries. Known as the
'George Inn' in the Civil War, the old stone fireplaces have
many initials and dates scratched in, probably left by the
troops that may have occupied the building.
With the help from local volunteers,
the Tudor Herb and Physic Garden was restored in 2001.
Today the building is used as a "hands-on" education
service for schools and colleges, but during August it is
open to the public and well worth a visit. |
