Wimborne Minster,
known locally as the Minster is dedicated to Saint Cuthburga, sister
to Ina, King of the West Saxons who founded a Benedictine
nunnery at the site, circa AD705. The atmosphere within the church feels both welcoming and
friendly.
The Minster is recognised for its unusual chained
library (one of only four in the world), an astronomical clock
that predates Galileo and the resting place of King Ethelred
of Wessex (AD 871).
